Which algorithms does the inductive visual miner use?
Hello,
in order to understand the results i get using the inductive visual miner i am trying to figure out which algorithms are used by it. Is it fuzzy mining or heuristic mining? Or is it a combination of different algorithms? Is there any literature on the topic?

Hi,
There are two mining algorithms used in the Inductive visual Miner:
- without life cycle; this algorithm is called 'Inductive Miner - infrequent'. (http://www.processmining.org/_media/blogs/pub2013/bpi2013leemans.pdf)
- with life cycle; this algorithm is called 'Inductive Miner life cycle - infrequent'. (http://www.processmining.org/_media/blogs/pub2015/bpi_life_cycle.pdf)
The algorithm can be chosen in the combobox called 'Mine'. If your event log contains so-called 'start' events, use the second. Otherwise, try what works best.
More information about the Inductive visual Miner itself can be found in (http://www.processmining.org/_media/blogs/pub2014/bpi2014leemans.pdf).
If you have any questions left, please don't hesitate to ask them here.
Kind regards,
