No Petri net Model in ProM-Models?

Dear all,

I am still learning how to build a plugin and try to learn from existing plugins that worked with petri nets. In this case I try to understand parts of the Data Aware Explorer Plugin. They used for a petri net representation ProM-Models (org.processmining.models.graphbased.directed.petrinet.Petrinet) but when I try this, the petri net model can not be found. I checked the github project too but there is no petri net model anymore, is there a reason for this?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

This particular class can be found in the PetriNets package. Indeed, this package is not on GitHub as it is not under development anymore. When we had to move from SVN to GitHub, we only moved those packages that were still under development.

Note that the Java package (in this case, org.processmining.models.graphbased.directed.petrinet.Petrinet) does not always give you the correct ProM Package, as is the case for his class. It may be that it originally was part of the Models package, but that it was moved out later to a separate PetriNets package.

To see the sources of the PetriNets class, you can use an existing installation of ProM with the PetriNets package installed. The installed package will contains the sources of the package as well.

    Kind regards, Eric.

P.S.: As an alternative, you can download the latest version of the PetriNets package from GitHub: https://github.com/promworkbench/Releases/blob/main/Packages/PetriNets/latest/PetriNets-latest.jar. As mentioned, this jar file also contains the sources for the package.

  • Hi Eric,

thank you so much for the quick response! I found the correct package now for using petri nets, thanks!

    Kind regards, Sabrina
